Scenario

Scenario
Vann broke his leg three weeks before basketball Nationals. Vann was feeling really upset and frustrated at breaking his leg because he had been training hard for months and was really looking forward to the tournament for both the competition and social experiences.

As part of Vann’s recovery he has been going to physiotherapy. Jed, who is on the same basketball team as Vann, has been going to physiotherapy with Vann and has been helping Vann with his rehabilitation exercises.

The coach of Vann and Jed’s basketball team asked Vann to still go away with them to Nationals as an assistant coach. That way Vann won’t completely miss out on the tournament and experience the team will have at Nationals.
Describe how Jed and the coach have helped Vann to manage his feelings in relation to the change he has experienced: Jed has been helping Vann with his rehabilitation exercises, and their coach asked him to come as an assistant coach so he wouldn’t completely miss out.

Scenario: Sal's New friend
Sal had been moving for days across the country looking for a new home with his mum, dad and older sister, Shyren.  They travelled and travelled along the road until they came across a place called Geyser City, they bought a small little cottage next to two houses.  Meanwhile while dinner was cooking Sal was packing his computer and toys out of his boxes, while hearing loud music and singing from Shyren’s room.

Sal was getting bored hanging up his posters when all of a sudden there was a knock on the door and heard the door swing open and people talking, he walked down the oak wood spiral staircase and saw a mum and a child his age, he saw that he had a large silver book of what seemed to have stickers on it.  Sal walked down keeping his eyes on the stranger’s eyes, he stared at him for a while and then holded out his hand, which the stranger did shake he said “nice to meet you, my names Darek, you?”.

Darek’s jade green eyes stared curiously into Sal’s aqua blue eyes as he waited for an answer, after a while Sal stopped staring into his eyes and saw that he was waiting for an answer, so he quickly said “Sal” back to him, he seemed to like this name because his large smile grew further.  “I was wondering if you would like to go for a walk, do you” asked Darek, Sal thought and then said “okay then, why not?”, so Darek got some bread out of his fridge and they walked towards a large turquoise lake.

They walked for what felt like hours, but eventually ran out of bread from feeding large mallard ducks, while trying to avoid feeding the bread to the seagulls.  So they walked back to Sal’s house to get back to eat dinner, which was his favourite, it was spaghetti.  He munched through his food and said “I’m going up to bed, night”.  and went up the oak stairs and leaped into his bed to fall asleep.  The next day he got up and made himself some cereal and took said bye to his parents and left to go to his new school.

He was put in a large group of students he didn’t know he was starting to panic until he noticed Darek was sitting by himself at a small table, waiting for class to start.  He went over to Darek and sat down next to him and instantly they starting talking about class, it was only a bit of time until he found out they they were both in the same class.  For the rest of the month they always sat together in class, and ate their lunch together, they even did the same subjects together!  They later became best friends and gained more and more friends every week, until they became the most most liked kids in the entire school.

One day however Darek decided to show Sal his book so Sal read the book and inside it talked all about his friends and how much he liked them or enjoyed their company, the book was almost full as well.  The book said that he had the best time with Sal and never ever wanted to leave him and he felt that if he did, he would never find another friend as great as him.  After he had read the entire book, Sal gave Darek a large tight hug to show that he felt the same about him too.  For the rest of their lives they were the best of friends and always competed in the same activities.

What Are Feelings?

Last Week

3.4.2014

Last week in services we decided what we might do for the term.  We all obviously chose different things however we haven't fully decided what we will do as a group.

L.O (learning objective): How to use a gantt chart for planning.
S.C (success criteria): WWS how to plan a gantt chart.

Service Start

Service Start

In our first session of Service we all told each other things about ourselves, such as how many pets we have, where we live, our hobbies and, most importantly, our name.  We discussed all the things we may do in Service such as wood creations, bookmarks, gardening and other amazing things.

  2. Talk to someone who is supportive and understanding.
Jealous
  1. Admit you feel jealous.
  2. Walk away and do something you like to do.

  2. Tell someone what happened
Regret

  2. Set goals so as not to repeat the same behaviour
Sad/upset

  2. Think about calming things.
Shocked
  1. Leave the situation.
  2. Tell someone about what happened.
Confused
  1. Ask what happened/ask for a repeat.
  2. Ask for help.
Anxious
  1. Take a deep breath.
  2. Close your eyes and after a bit, open them.
Nervous
  1. Go slightly slower until you get the hang of it.
  2. Do things over and over so you are super confident before it really happens (e.g if you are doing something on the stage).
