The Beatles, Week 3, Day 2, Part 2

The Beatles Trip To New Zealand

I read about The Beatles' trip and found 3 facts which were very interesting, and these were them:

1. Their first visit in New Zealand was in Wellington.

2. The police had not expected the crowd to be as crazy as it was, so the police had to use dogs to clear large groups from the verandas and other vantage points.

3. Some Teenagers pushed over and damaged 2 police motorcycles and there was so much pushing that one of The Beatles' cars was shunted backwards, with the handbrake on!

  1. Kia ora Aedan,

My name is Megan and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey team who will be commenting on your posts over summer.

Wow, I cannot believe that The Beatles' car was pushed backwards even with the handbrake on. Have you ever tried to push a car before? This would be extremely difficult to do. I have heard that their was a phenomenon call the 'Beatlemania' which is a term used to describe the fans' hysteria. It amazes me that pop-stars can influence a fan base so much that it turns them into a frenzy. Can you think of any pop-stars where we might see fans behaving in a similar fashion today?

Keep up the awesome work Aedan.

    Have a lovely day,
    Megan :)
