John Hinton
Who Was He:
He was a fellow soldier working with many New Zealand and British soldiers, who gave up on retreating and used grenades and a few guns to storm 2 German houses and blow up the gun crews, soon afterwards getting shot in the stomach and taken hostage, although he escaped and attempted it many more times.
Reason For Earning Victoria Cross:
He didn't want to retreat anymore, so he fought over and over getting more and more beaten up until he couldn't go on anymore and ended up in a hospital bed where he got his Victoria Cross.

Kia ora Aedan,
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have read about John Hinton, but used your own words when writing on your blog to describe who he was and what he did to earn the Victoria Cross award. Well done! What kind of person do you think John Hinton was? I think he sounds like a very resilient man. Even when the odds seem to be against him, he doesn't give up!
I see you are quite an active blogger. Just a reminder that you can earn extra points by commenting on other students' blogs about the Summer Learning Journey!
Keep up the great blogging!
Noho ora mai,
