Hairy Maclary Gets Lost
Out of the gate and off for a walk went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy.
He ran down the street, clambered over some rocks and met a friend named Bottomley Potts.
They crawled under a fence and above some large logs, to find another friend called Sally Doggs.
Across a bog they went which was covered in mist, coming to an opening named Barnacles Wrist.
Before they realised that they were lost, another friend came running out in exhaust, saying that they were Jeremy Frost and hoping he stopped them from getting lost.
Panting and barking the friends all did clamber, back towards home with a scamp and a swagger.
Up in the sky, rain clouds were appearing, all of their hopes for a dry coat disappearing.
They started to speed up their scampering pace, suddenly realising that getting home was a difficult race.
So off they went with a loud patter of paws, taking a shortcut through mud and digging in with their claws.
They jumped above small rocks and ducked under fences going past a large group of hedges.
They all ran back along the street, with big soggy coats and big muddy feet.
Then they retreated indoors to their homes and went into their rooms which were all kennel domes.
They barked a goodbye and howled into the night, and went to their beds to sleep a goodnight.

Hi Aedan!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Ellee I work alongside Emiely on the Summer Learning Journey commenting on your blogs!
Just want to say it looks like you have been doing some really impressive work this summer, you should feel really proud! I know Emiely really enjoys reading your work :)
Thank you for giving the activity a second go, you have done a perfect job at following on from the sentence starter with your own version of Hairy Mclary.
This is a really awesome story Aedan, it is so creative. I can't believe you were able to rhyme the whole way through too, very impressive! How long did it take you to come up with this?
I really liked the part where they got lost, I could almost picture the illustration for the story and the creepy bog with the Barnacles Wrist opening.
This is amazing work Aedan, so impressive - keep it up!
Ellee :)
