Kia ora Aedan,
ReplyDeleteWhat great thinking! All the items you have listen would be essential to take hiking with you! Especially with the scorching sun we have in New Zealand, it's extremely important to be wearing sunscreen. I was out in the sun with my friends last weekend and even though my friends had put on sunscreen, they still got burnt because they had forgotten to reapply it after we went swimming! I hope you have been making sure to "slip, slop, slap and wrap" while out in the sun this summer!
A first aid kit is also really important because it is possible that someone may injure themselves, especially on a big hike like the Tongariro Crossing. I've tripped even just walking to my car!
Apart from taking the right equipment, are you able to follow this link to find out some other important steps people should take before going on a hike?

Keep up the great blogging, Aedan! You're doing great!
